Microsoft Pulls Plug on HD DVD Players

Only thing which comes to mind when i think of this long Format War as rightly stated in science is "Survival of the fittest". With Microsoft taking of its support from HD DVD it seems obvious that Format War is over now.

Microsoft was one of HD DVD's main backers, along with Intel Corp. and Japanese electronics maker NEC Corp., and its support for the format was seen as a big win for Toshiba's format. But HD DVD lost it's ground when big players such as Walt Disney, News Corp.'s Twentieth Century Fox ,Warner Bros and Wal-Mart Stores. picked Blu-ray to distribute high-def DVDs.

For now Microsoft would continue to provide standard warranty support for its HD DVD players.
